Hamedan: Iraq’s dead-ball specialist and captain Mohammed Ridha has landed the Abdulla Al Dabal Most Valuable Player award at the AFC U-14 Championship 2014.
Ridhacaptained the Iraq side which won the title after registering a flawless 3-0 victory over DPR Korea on Wednesday.
The midfielder, who shone throughout the tournament, was a revelation thanks to his ever effective general play and his dead-ball brilliance. Radhi scored four goals in the competition, three of which were from set-pieces.
“I enjoy taking free-kicks, but it is not only the free-kicks which I focus, I train hard in every aspect," Ridha told www.the-afc.com.
The Iraqi received a standing ovation from local Iran fans when he scored two identical free-kicks to dispose of host nation in the semi-finals.
Ridha added one more goal to his tally in the final, this time a brilliant volley that fizzed past DPR Korea goalkeeper Kim Kum-song.
