Dubai: AFC Champions League quarter-finalists Al Ain have announced the signing of United Arab Emirates international Amer Abdulrahman and Brazilian winger Caio
The highly rated Abdulrahman joins Al Ain from UAE rivals Baniyas, with his capture signifying a major success for the 2003 continental champions.
Abdulrahman, 27, has appeared 44 times for the UAE and played significant roles in the national sides that lifted the Gulf Cup crown in 2013 and finished third at the 2015 AFC Asian Cup in Australia.
Meanwhile, Caio has signed a reported three-year deal after being persuaded to leave Japan’s Kashima Antlers where he had been since 2014. The Sao Paolo native was voted Rookie of the Year following his first season in the J.League.
The two arrivals will provide a major boost to Al Ain as they continue to prepare for their AFC Champions League quarter-final showdown with Uzbekistan’s Lokomotiv.
Head coach Zlatko Dalic’s charges will host the first leg of their last eight tussle on August 23, before the return fixture in Tashkent on September 13.
