Dubai: Cosmin Olaroiu’s Al Ahli endured a frustrating evening against Al Taawoun of Saudi Arabia on Monday as the 2015 AFC Champions League finalists from the United Arab Emirates were held to a 0-0 draw on front of their own fans.

Both sides hit the woodwork, with Makhete Diop’s first half cross clipping the crossbar before Lucien San Martean Corner did similar in the second period, but it was Al Ahli who were on top for much of the game and who were unable to turn their dominance into goals.

The result moves both teams on to four points from their opening three games, two points behind Group A leaders Esteghlal following their victory over Lokomotiv from Uzbekistan earlier in the day.
