Abu Dhabi: Al Wahda picked up their first points of the 2017 AFC Champions League after a 2-2 draw with Al Hilal at Al Nahyan Stadium on Tuesday.

Visitors Al Hilal began the tie at a frenetic pace and netted the opener after just five minutes when Nawaf Al Abed fired in Mohammed Al Burayk’s drilled cross from the right. The Saudi giants looked like they would keep the lead into the half-time break only for Argentine Sebastian Tagliabue to draw the scores level in added time.

Hungarian midfielder Balazs Dzsudzak volleyed home from an angle on 54 minutes and it looked like Al Hilal would lose their unbeaten record in this year’s AFC Champions League when midfielder Al Abed received his second yellow card of the night to reduce the side to 10-men just after the hour mark.

But the two-time continental champions hit back and on the 69th minute Syria striker Omar Khribin latched on to Al Burayk’s ball into the area, rounded ‘keeper Rashed Ali, and slotted home to ensure Al Hilal took a share of the spoils.
