Ulsan: Muangthong United claimed a hard-fought 0-0 draw with Ulsan Hyundai in Group E of the 2017 AFC Champions League on Tuesday to remain unbeaten in the continental competition.

The Thai champions began brightly at Ulsan Munsu Football Stadium but the hosts soon found their rhythm and could have taken a one-goal lead into the interval when Kim In-sung almost converted Mislav Orsic’s cross from the left at the back post on the stroke of half time.

The visitors’ captain Teerasil Dangda had a chance to put his side a goal up midway through the second half but goalkeeper Kim Yong-dae got the better of the one-on-one duel, before substitute Kim Yong-jin deflected just wide at the death as Muangthong held out for a point.

The result sees Muangthong drop to second place in Group E, a point ahead of third-placed Ulsan, after Kashima Antlers’ 3-0 victory over Brisbane Roar took the Japanese side to the top of the standings.
