Hong Kong: Substitute Johnathan came on to devastating effect by scoring the only goal of the game as Suwon Samsung Bluewings claimed their first win of the 2017 AFC Champions League with a 1-0 victory over Eastern SC in Group G on Tuesday.

The visitors dominated the first-half possession at Mongkok Stadium but struggled to break down a stubborn Eastern backline, before Suwon’s Kim Min-woo headed narrowly wide shortly after the restart.

Suwon brought on Johnathan and Yeom Ki-hun just before the hour and the pair combined to open the scoring with 12 minutes remaining when Yeom’s beautifully weighted cross was headed home by the Brazilian as the two-time Asian champions picked up all three points.

The Korean side now sit behind table-toppers Guangzhou Evergrande on goal difference alone at the top of the standings after the Chinese Super League team played out a 1-1 draw with Kawasaki Frontale in Tuesday's other Group G clash.
