Bengaluru: Sunil Chhetri scored and registered an assist as the JSW Bengaluru captain led the I-League side to a comprehensive 3-0 win over DPR Korea’s 4.25 SC in the first leg of their 2017 AFC Cup Inter-Zone semi-final at a saturated Sree Kanteerava Stadium on Wednesday.

The India national team star gave his side the lead in the 32nd minute from the penalty spot, dispatching a delicate ‘Panenka’ effort past 4.25 keeper Ri Kang.

The hosts then made it 2-0 after the half-time break when winger Udanta Singh showed great anticipation to make an interception before speeding into the box and netting with a calm finish.

Chhetri was then involved in the third goal, picking up the ball on the left wing and sending in an accurate cross for Lenny Rodrigues to slide home in the 78th minute.

DPR Korea side 4.25 SC now have a huge task ahead of them when the two teams go head-to-head in Pyongyang for the second leg on September 13.

The victors from this tie will face the winners of the tie between Filipino side Ceres Negros and FC Istiklol of Tajikistan in the Inter-Zone final on September 27.
