Asian Football Confederation President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa will arrive in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Saturday to attend the second and deciding leg of the AFC Champions League final between hosts Al Hilal and Australia’s Western Sydney Wanderers.
In his statement, Shaikh Salman noted that the game promises to bring plenty of quality entertainment and has generated a great deal of interest both within and beyond Asia.
“Both teams performed admirably in last week’s first leg in Sydney, displays that showed extremely high spirits and a determination to win. We look forward to a similar spectacle in the return game,” Shaikh Salman said.
Shaikh Salman said that regardless of the result, the game will reflect the true standard of football in Asia as well as the sporting behaviour and spirit of fair play that exists throughout the continent.
Shaikh Salman also commended the special arrangements made by the Saudi Arabian Football Federation and Al Hilal whilst preparing for the second leg. He praised the efforts of Western Sydney in their hosting of the first game, and wished both clubs the very best of success.
