Colombo: India have become the inaugural champions of the AFC U-14 Girls Regional Championship 2013 for the South and Central region after whipping Bhutan 9-0 in their final game in the Sri Lankan capital on Sunday.
The Indian girls finished on perfect 15 points as Kashmina scored a triple while Daya Devi Heigrujam and Pooja Dnyaneshwar Dhamal each clinched a brace with Nisha and Roja Devi Asem scoring a goal each against the Bhutanese.
In the other final day match, Iran thrashed Tajikistan 7-1 thanks to Sana Sadeghy, Fatemeh Ghasemi and Fatemeh Mazidi’s brace each, as well as Melika Mohammadi’s goal, with the Tajikistanis’ Nargiza Yunusova scoring their lone goal.
Bangladesh beat hosts Sri Lanka 3-0 through Monika Chakma’s double and Srimoti Krishnarani Sarkar’s goal.
South and Central Asia was the first region to have finished their championship.
Qatar will host the West region in April while the ASEAN outings will be held in June in Vietnam, with China being the venue for the East championship also in June.
