Amman: Jordan's preparation for the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 got off to a flying start after they beat Cyprus 3-0 in an international friendly at the Amman International Stadium on Sunday.
It was a confident display from Jordan as they look towards the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019, where they have been drawn in Group B alongside defending champions Australia, Syria and Palestine for the January 5-February 1 extravaganza.
Jordan started the brighter of the two, quickly seizing control of the match and it took them only 19 minutes to take the lead as Anas Bani Yaseen found the back of the net after collecting a rebound.
The home team continued to press but the second goal only came in the 37th minute through Jaime Siaj Romero, who turned in a cross.
Having taken a two-goal lead, Jordan's intensity dropped in the second half as Cyprus began to see more of the ball.
That, however, didn't translate into a goal and it was Jordan who sealed an emphatic victory, with Yousef Al-Rawashdeh the scorer.
