UAE v Honduras

AFC Asian Cup 2019 host United Arab Emirates, who are based in Spain for their third training camp this year, will play Honduras at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys in Barcelona.

In August, Alberto Zaccheroni’s charges played to a goalless draw with Andorra, before suffering a 2-0 defeat to Trinidad & Tobago, but recovered to defeat Laos 3-0 last month.

With the AFC Asian Cup 2019 set to kick off in less than three months and UAE aiming to impress on home soil, the friendly against Honduras will be a crucial test ahead of their Group A challenge against Thailand, India and Bahrain.

Bahrain v Syria

Bahrain and Syria will feature in an all-West Asian affair at the Bahrain National Stadium in Riffa, as both sides continue their preparations for UAE 2019.

A triumph for Miroslav Soukup’s side would mean a first win since their 4-0 victory over Turkmenistan in the UAE 2019 Qualifiers back in March, while Syria will look to bounce back from their 2-1 defeat to Kyrgyz Republic in an international friendly last month.

Kuwait v Lebanon

At the Al Kuwait Sports Club Stadium, Kuwait will welcome Lebanon in what will be a meeting of familiar foes.

In the past seven years, Kuwait and Lebanon have faced off five times, with a head-to-head record of a win each.

This would be Lebanon’s third international friendly since qualifying for UAE 2019, where they recorded a 1-0 win over Jordan and 0-0 draw with Oman last September.

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 12

Japan v Panama

Head coach Hajime Moriyasu recently announced his squad of 23 players, with the likes of Wataru Endo and Yuya Osako returning to don the Samurai Blue jersey, along with 2016 AFC U-19 Championship MVP Ritsu Doan.

Japan, who reached the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia Round of 16, claimed a comfortable 3-0 win over Costa Rica in September and will look to continue their fine form against Panama at the Denka Big Swan Stadium in Niigata.

They then travel to Saitama to face Uruguay on Tuesday, as part of the Kirin Challenge Cup 2018.

Japan are Group F of the AFC Asian Cup 2019 with Uzbekistan, Oman and Turkmenistan.

Korea Republic v Uruguay

Korea Republic will first take on Uruguay at the Seoul World Cup Stadium.

Korea Republic have lost all three previous encounters with Uruguay since 1990, but have enjoyed an unbeaten streak under new head coach Paulo Bento, who led the Taeguk Warriors to a 2-0 victory against Costa Rica but were forced to settle for a draw with Chile in September.

The friendlies against Uruguay and Panama will be Korea Republic's last matches at home this year, as they will then travel to Australia next month to face the Socceroos and Uzbekistan.

In the UAE 2019, Korea Republic will take on China PR, Philippines and Kyrgyz Republic in Group C.

Saudi Arabia v Brazil

Three-time Asian champions, Saudi Arabia will play host to Brazil in a plum tie at the King Saud University Stadium in Riyadh.

Saudi Arabia have only played one friendly match since their Russia 2018 campaign, against Bolivia, where the South Americans came back from two goals down to record a 2-2 draw.

A win against Brazil would serve as a major confidence booster for the Green Falcons, but history is not on their side as Saudi Arabia have lost in all four previous encounters.

Saudi Arabia are grouped with Qatar, Lebanon and DPR Korea in the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019.
