Doha: Hassan Al Haydos celebrated his 100th international match in goalscoring fashion as Qatar registered a resounding 3-0 victory over Palestine in a friendly at the Khalifa International Stadium in Doha on Tuesday.

The Qatar skipper played an integral part in his team getting off to a roaring start as he provided the assist from which Almoez Ali struck in the third minute.

Akram Afif made it 2-0 in the 19th minute before Al Haydos capped a memorable night for himself by scoring the third in the 29th as Qatar added to the 1-0 win over China PR last Friday.

The Al Sadd striker was ecstatic with the result, which sets Qatar up perfectly for the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019.

“It is a great honour to score in my 100th match,” Al Haydos said. “It has been an exciting journey so far.”

The 27-year-old was presented a jersey by Qatar Football Association president Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani with the number ‘100’ emblazoned over it before the match.

“That was a very special moment. It will inspire me to give my best for Qatar,” said Al Haydos, who made his first national team appearance in 2007.

The forward will now turn his attention to next week's 2018 AFC Champions League quarter-finals, where Al Sadd will be defending a 3-1 lead against Islamic Republic of Iran's Esteghlal in the second leg at the Jassim bin Hamid Stadium on Monday.
