The final will be played at the Al Wakrah Stadium, which will be a venue for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, on Thursday.
“Our players gave our best this evening as it was important to win this game,” said Al Duhail head coach Rui Faria, whose team are through to the 2019 AFC Champions League Round of 16.
It will be a tough final though as Al Sadd will be determined to give Spanish legend Xavi a grand send-off. The former Barcelona player has announced he will retire at the end of the domestic season.
“Throughout my time working with Xavi, he was always at a high level. I want to salute Xavi, because he focused on the young players. He did not give importance to his status or fame; he just wanted to work for the team,” Al Sadd head coach Jesualdo Ferreira said.
Al Sadd, who are also through to the 2019 AFC Champions League knockout stage, booked their place in the Amir Cup final with a 2-0 win over Al Rayyan on Saturday, with Ali Asad and Baghdad Bounedjah the goalscorers.
