Fellaini: It was an important three points for us

Jinan: Marouane Fellaini was on target for the first time in the AFC Champions League as Shandong Luneng recorded their maiden victory in the 2019 edition after a 2-1 win at home against Johor Darul Ta'zim on Tuesday. 

The former Manchester United midfielder headed home from a corner on the half hour mark to open the scoring, before fellow ex-English Premier League star Graziano Pelle doubled the advantage.

JDT's young talent Safawi Rasid pulled a goal back in spetacular style just before the hour, but Fellaini and his teammates were able to hold out for a crucial win that sees them take hold of second place in Group E.

Jinan: Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) skipper Hariss Harun wants his teammates to show more belief in themselves after a sloppy first-half showing led to a 2-1 defeat at Shandong Luneng on Matchday Three of the 2019 AFC Champions League.

Goals from former English Premier League stars Marouane Fellaini and Graziano Pelle handed the Chinese side a 2-0 half-time lead in the Group E clash at Jinan Olympic Sports Centre.

The Malaysian champions rallied after the interval and pulled a goal back through Safawi Rasid’s stunning long-range effort, but defeat leaves them with an uphill challenge to reach the knockout rounds.

Dubai: Persepolis midfielder Bashar Resan insists the Iranian side are now firmly back in contention for AFC Champions League knockout round qualification after Tuesday’s 2-0 Group D victory over Saudi Arabia’s Al Ahli.
