Hawsawi reflects on a job well done after Al Nassr go through
Abu Dhabi: Captain Omar Hawsawi has been quick to declare it was a job well done after Al Nassr sealed their place in this season’s AFC Champions League quarter-finals following a dramatic 3-2 win over Al Wahda FSCC from the United Arab Emirates on Monday.
Two goals from midfield dynamo Giuliano laid the foundations for the victory, one which saw the Saudi Arabian giants progress through to the last eight courtesy of a 4-3 aggregate success.
With one of Qatari duo Al Duhail SC or Al Sadd SC now awaiting them in the next round, Hawsawi was adamant that the result was exactly what Al Nassr deserved on a night of high drama at the Al Nahyan Stadium.

“We came from Riyadh to Abu Dhabi and our goal was clear, we only wanted to win,” the defender said after the match.
“As I said during the pre-match press conference, in difficult situations our true spirit always shines through. That was exactly what we showed today.
“Although we conceded a goal midway through the first half, we remained confident in our ability to come back into the match. As a result we continued to attack and were rewarded when we scored the goals and eventually got the valuable win.”
Despite Rui Vitória’s charges being undefeated in their last six AFC Champions League matches, Hawsawi believes there is still more to come from an Al Nassr side set to appear in the competition’s quarter-finals for the first time.
“We dedicate this win and qualification [for the quarter-finals] to the Al Nassr fans who support us everywhere,” he said.
“We promise them that the future will be much better.”
