ACL2018 MD5 Toyota Player of the Week: Mislav Orsic
Orsic scored a rating of 9.4 in a match that saw him create four chances for his teammates and add what was his second double of the campaign as the hosts secured their passage to the next round with a game to spare.
Ulsan were two up inside 20 minutes before the Croatian forward all but secured the victory on 38 minutes and, with 15 minutes to play, Orsic added the final goal – his fourth of the campaign – as the Korea Republic side eased through.
Adrian Mierzejewski (pictured below) was another player who stood out in the fifth round of fixtures on the continent, with the Sydney FC midfielder scoring the third goal in a 4-1 win at Suwon Samsung Bluewings to throw Group H wide open.
In a game that the Australian side needed to claim all three points from to remain in contention for progressing to the next round, the Pole, who also assisted two of his side’s goals, made it 3-1 with 11 minutes to go and scored an impressive 8.7 rating from an excellent night’s work.
United Arab Emirates striker Ali Mabkhout finished in third place after his brace helped ensure Al Jazira advanced to the last 16 for the first time since 2014 following a 3-2 victory over Al Gharafa in Doha.
With the Qatari side 2-1 up, Mabkhout (picutred below) struck with 20 minutes to play before securing qualification in the 94th minute with his second and earning an 8.7 rating for his efforts.
Entering this week’s rankings at number four was another player who finds the back of the net with regularity: Al Sadd’s Baghdad Bounedjah, who scored twice from four attempts at goal in his side’s 2-1 win over Al Wasl.
The forward, who also bagged an 8.6 rating, is currently the competition’s top scorer with seven goals to his name as he has fired Al Sadd into the next round with a game to spare.
A rating of 8.5 saw another Ulsan player, Junior Negrao, finish in fifth in the ratings and complete this week’s top five as the Brazilian netted a double with his first goals of the group stage.
Sardor Mirzayev scored twice in Lokomotiv’s stunning 4-1 win at Al Wahda and secured an 8.2 rating, while Guangzhou Evergrande’s Zheng Long and Al Hilal’s Mohammed Al Burayk – both of whom earned 8.0 ratings – complete the Toyota Player of the Week top eight.
