Semi-Final, First Leg Toyota Player of the Week: Alireza Beiranvand
The Iran international pulled off an impressive six saves to keep his side in the match in Doha, securing a cleansheet and giving teammate Ali Alipour the platform to dispatch an 86th-minute spot-kick for the game's only goal.
Beiranvand's 100 percent save success rate, three duels won and 25 successful passes all earn him a weekly high mark of 7.7.
Second in this week’s ranking is Suwon Samsung Bluewings striker Dejan Damjanovic (pictured below), who scored his eighth goal of the campaign as the Korean side lost 3-2 at Kashima Antlers.
Damajanovic's sixth minute strike at Kashima Soccer Stadium was his 35th AFC Champions League goal, taking him just one behind all-time leader Lee Dong-gook.
The Montenegrin had two shots on goal, scoring with his attempt on target, and proved a constant menace for the Kashima backline winning 10 aerial duels. For his efforts, the 37-year-old earned a 7.2 rating.
Completing the top three in the Toyota Player of the Week is another goalscorer from the tie in Kashima, Serginho(below), who netted his side’s second goal on 84 minutes to draw the scores level on the night.
The Brazilian forward came off the bench to help Kashima turn the tie on its head after the hosts had gone two goals down within six minutes and his efforts - which include a total of six shots (four on target), one chance created and his vital goal - earn him a score of 7.0.
Al Sadd midfielder Gabi came fourth in the week's ranking with a 7.0 rating. The Spaniard had 82 touches and completed 72 passes with an impressive passing accuracy in opposition half of 89.8%. Nevertheless, the former Atletico Madrid man could not stop his side losing 1-0 on the night to Persepolis.
Rounding off the top five is Gabi's teammate Pedro Ro-Ro, with the centre-back also impressing with his range of passing. The Qatar international recorded an 84.6% pass accuracy and registered 52 touches to gain a 6.9 rating.
Another Al Sadd defender with a rating of 6.8, Abdelkarim Hassan, comes in sixth, while Persepolis defender Shojae Khalilzadeh and Al Sadd's Korea international Jung Woo-young complete the top eight with ratings of 6.8 and 6.7 respectively.
