Monday, March 12, 2018

Manama: Al Zawraa came from behind to earn a 3-1 victory over Manama on Matchday Four of the AFC Cup Group B on Monday.

The Bahraini side got off to a dream start as Mohamed Noor handed them the lead within a minute of kick-off.

A perfectly weighted through pass by Sayed Hussein found Saad Al Amer, but the latter’s attempt to round the keeper saw him lose possession. However, the ball found Noor who drove it into the empty net.

Al Zawraa regrouped quickly and got their equaliser through Mohanad Abdulraheem who dribbled his way past the entire Manama defence and finished with his left foot into the bottom corner in the 15th minute.

In the 66th minute, Hussein Ali advanced on the left flank and pulled back a pass for Haidar Abdulameer who fired with venom from the edge of the box leaving goalkeeper Redha Behram helpless.

Amjad Khalaf completed the visitors' comeback with a 79th minute goal. Abdulraheem added an assist to his goal, supplying the killer pass for Khalaf to drive home from inside the box to confirm Al Zawraa's victory.

Al Zawraa go into their next game against Al Ahed with five points to their name while Manama will have to try again as their pursuit of a first win takes them to an away trip to face Al Jaish on Matchday Five.
