Dhaka: TC Sports Club edged Saif Sporting Club Limited 1-0 in their AFC Cup South Zone preliminary stage tie at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Tuesday.

Anatolli Vlasichev's strike in the 26th minute gave TC a 1-0 lead at half-time.

Saif could not, however, find a way back after the break as the Dhivehi Premier League outfit from the Maldives picked up a narrow win and a potentially crucial away goal.

The return leg will be played on January 30 in Male.

Bishkek: In the Central Zone, FC Ahal left it late to beat Dordoi FC 3-1 in the first leg of their AFC Cup preliminary stage qualifying tie at the Dordoi Sports Centre on Tuesday.

Ahal struck early in the first minute through Muhadov, but his effort was canceled out 18 minutes later when Dordoi's Kairat Zhyrgalbek Uulu found the net to make it 1-1 at half-time.

Ahal picked up the pace late into the second half, as Myrat Annayev scored twice in the 75th and 86th minutes to give them a 3-1 win. The return leg will be played on January 30 in Ashgabat.

Thimphu: JSW Bengaluru of India will fancy their chances of advancing to the AFC Cup 2018 play-offs after holding Transport United of Bhutan to a 0-0 draw in the South Zone qualifiers at the Changlimithang Stadium on Tuesday.

Bengaluru, the 2016 runners-up, will play the return leg at home on January 30, when Sunil Chhetri and his teammates will be confident of getting the job done at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium.

The Central Zone preliminary winners will advance to the group phase and will join FC Istiklol, Altyn Asyr and FC Alay in Group D while the South Zone winners will join New Radiant, Abahani Limited Dhaka and, potentially Aizawl FC,  in Group E.
