Farzaneh Tavasoli - Iran - AFCWFC 2018

Tehran: Two-time AFC Women’s Futsal Championship winner Farzaneh Tavasoli of Islamic Republic of Iran has been nominated in the UMBRO Futsal Awards 2018 for the Best Futsal Goalkeeper.

Iran confirmed their status as the queens of Asian futsal, producing a dazzling five-goal second half to retain the AFC Women’s Futsal Championship title with a 5-2 win over Japan in May this year.

The Iranian shot stopper was in dazzling form throughout the tournament and head coach Shahrzad Mozafar even reserved special acclaim for her consistency and outstanding goalkeeping.

“I think Farzaneh is the best goalkeeper in Asia. In 2015 and also at this tournament she has been brilliant, and she also deserves a trophy for her performances,” said Mozafar.

Tavasoli will compete with the likes of Portugal’s Ana Catarina Silva Pereira, Ana Etayo Garde and Silvia Aguete Outón (both from Spain), Russia’s Anastasia Ivanova, Bianca Castagnaro Moraes of Brazil, Italian duo Jhennifer Aparecida De Oliveira Camargo and Maria Antonia Mascia.

Last year’s award went to Estela García Rodero of Spain. The winners of the UMBRO Futsal Awards 2018 will be announced on January 10.
