Kazan: They were all heroes but if there was one Korea Republic player who stood a little taller after the amazing 2-0 win over Germany in the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia on Wednesday, it was goalkeeper Jo Hyun-woo.
Jo produced yet another outstanding performance as Korea Republic sent the defending champions crashing out in the Group F clash at the Kazan Arena and was deservingly named Man-of-the-Match.
There was no other more deserving candidate, although late goals by Kim Young-gwon and Son Heung-min meant Korea Republic exited the 2018 FIFA World Cup with the record of being the first Asian team to beat the reigning World Cup champions in an official match.
Jo, 26, was amazing as Germany had 26 shots - six of which were on target - and his heroics were passionately applauded.

Kazan: Korea Republic struck twice in second half added time to defeat Germany 2-0, a result which sent the defending champions crashing out of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia on Wednesday.
The win wasn't enough for Korea Republic to advance to the Round of 16, with Sweden defeating Mexico 3-0 to seal top spot in Group F, but it is a result which will be celebrated across Asia.
It was a historic win as it is the first time an Asian team has beaten the reigning World Cup champions in any official match.

Volgograd: Japan are just a point away from the 2018 FIFA World Cup Round of 16 and Akira Nishino's men will leave no stone unturned in their bid to advance when they face Poland in their final Group H tie on Thursday.
The Blue Samurai have impressed in Russia 2018, shrugging off a difficult build up to defeat Colombia 2-1 and come from behind to take a point in the 2-2 draw with Senegal.
It has been a remarkable run for coach Akira Nishino, who took over just two months before the FIFA World Cup, as he has moulded Japan into a potent side.
They will take on already-eliminated Poland with confidence and little pressure after their earlier performances.
While a point will be enough to seal qualification, Japan will advance even if they lose should Senegal defeat Colombia in the other Group H match.

Sochi: Australia's outgoing coach Bert van Marwijk was left with mixed feelings after seeing the Socceroos bow out of the FIFA World Cup Russia 2018 with a 2-0 defeat against Peru in Sochi on Tuesday.
Van Marwijk's team were again made to pay for their lack of a cutting edge and succumbed to goals from Andre Carrillo and Paolo Guerrero for the already-eliminated South Americans in this group finale.
They go home without a win, joining Peru in being eliminated in Group C as France and Denmark - who drew 0-0 in Moscow - both went through. Indeed, that result confirmed that even an Australian win here would have been in vain.

Sochi: The FIFA World Cup dream is over for Australia after Bert van Marwijk’s side were defeated 2-0 by Peru in Sochi on Tuesday but the Socceroos final stand at the Fisht Stadium did provide fans an unforgettable moment thanks to Tim Cahill.
When Cahill arrived into the fray for Tomi Juric in the 53rd minute, he became the first Socceroos player in history to play in four FIFA World Cups.
And although the 38-year-old was unable to provide Australia with another heroic FIFA World Cup moment on this occasion, Cahill’s unparalleled aerial ability was once again on display for the world to see.

Volgograd: Saudi Arabia came from behind to beat Egypt 2-1 and earn their first FIFA World Cup victory in 24 years.
Saudi Arabia kicked-off the game with three changes in the starting lineup from the game against Uruguay, most notably, Juan Antonio Pizzi called upon Yasser Al Mosaileem between the sticks to make it three different goalkeepers in the Green Falcons' three fixtures.
Skipper Osama Hawsawi saw a third different centre-back partner as Motaz Hawsawi replaced Ali Al Bulaihi, who had himself taken the place of Omar Hawsawi.
