Korea Republic to train in Turkey
Seoul: Korea Republic will set up their winter training camp in Turkey later this month to prepare for the FIFA World Cup 2018 Russia, the Korea Football Association has announced.
Head coach Shin Tae-yong will not be able to call up Europe-based star players like Son Heung-min and Ki Sung-yueng, as their respective clubs will be still in the middle of the season.
Instead, Shin will assemble those who play in the domestic K League and other Asian leagues, like he did for the East Asian Football Federation (EAFF) E-1 Football Championship in Japan last month, in which Korea Republic emerged champions.
The KFA said the roster for the January training will be announced on January 15.
Meanwhile, the KFA said it is searching for European opponents for friendly matches in March. Korea Republic had earlier confirmed that they will face Poland on March 28.
