Doha: An undermanned Qatari side has defeated DPR Korea 3-1 to give them their fourth successive victory.
Without stars Sebastian Soria and Khalfan Ibrahim, who was ruled out following an injury in his side’s training camp, Qatar scored three second half goals to continue their impressive recent form.
Abdulqadir Ilyas got the opening goal just after the half-time break before Boualem Khoukhi doubled his side’s lead just two minutes later.
Abdelkarim Hassan made it three goals in under ten minutes before Jang Song-hyok scored form the penalty spot for the Koreans.
The win was the first for Qatar over DPR Korea in four matches and only their second over the 2012 AFC Challenge Cup winners in their past ten encounters.
Qatar now line up against Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Yemen in the Gulf Cup while DPR Korea face Hong Kong, Guam and Chinese Taipei over the next fortnight.
