Kuala Lumpur: As the dust settles on the historic AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023™ Final, the medical and doping control officers who were appointed by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) to the continental showpiece hailed the Confederation’s unwavering commitment towards delivering unparalleled medical care.

In preparation for the 18th edition of the Confederation's premier men’s national team competition, the members of the medical team underwent thorough training in order to acquaint themselves with all the groundbreaking medical innovations that were introduced for the first time, such as the use of medical tablets and the implementation of paperless doping control measures.

AFC Medical Officers Workshop: New innovative approach and clinical skills towards safety of players #AsianCup2023

Doha: In anticipation of the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023™, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) organised the AFC Medical Officers Workshop, with lectures, hands-on training and interactive sessions ensuring medical care of the highest standards across all venues during the competition. 

Prior to these workshops, several seminars were held virtually in 2023 as part of the continuous development programme in preparation for Asia’s crown jewel, the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023™.

Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC)’s concerted efforts to raise the capabilities of its Member Associations (MAs) reached a significant milestone when the FIFA Emergency Medicine - Advanced Level Course 2023 kicked off today in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. 

With the goal of enhancing unified sports medicine practices across Asia, the two-day course is designed to empower the Confederation's medical officers with the skills and knowledge required to handle various on-field medical emergencies in an open environment and under the scrutiny of television audience.

AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023™ Team Medical Workshop focuses on players’ safety

Doha: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC), in collaboration with the Local Organising Committee (LOC) and AFC Medical Center of Excellence Hospital – Aspetar conducted an informative and comprehensive Team Medical Workshop in preparation for the upcoming AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023™. 

During the two-day workshop, AFC Medical Committee Chairperson Dato’ Dr. Gurcharan Singh provided insights on medical preparations and regulations for team doctors prior to their arrival and commitments upon arrival during the competition.

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Medical Committee further underlined the Confederation’s commitment to safeguard and prioritise the health and wellbeing of Asian footballers at its first meeting for the 2023 to 2027 term, which was held today at the AFC House in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Under the guidance of Chairperson Dato’ Dr. Gurcharan Singh, the Committee confirmed that the upcoming edition of the highly acclaimed AFC Medical Conference, which is set to take place in Malaysia in 2025, will be held from July 21 to 25.

AFC and Aspetar sign MoU to promote oral and dental health for Asian footballers

Doha: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has partnered with Aspetar, a prestigious orthopaedic and sports medicine hospital and one of FIFA and AFC Medical Centres of Excellence, to establish a ground-breaking initiative focused on the oral and dental health of footballers in Asia. 

The two organisations have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on both education and research programmes aimed towards the safety of players.

Doha: The 7th Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Medical Conference officially concluded on Monday in Qatar’s capital, providing over 600 delegates with a comprehensive overview of the latest advancements in sports science and medicine. 

The landmark three-day event saw delegates updated on the challenges faced by sports science and medicine, as well as its best practices, and cutting-edge developments. These were presented via keynote addresses, lectures, symposia, poster presentations and clinical workshops.
