Kathmandu: Bahrain bounced back from their opening defeat to AFC U-16 Championship qualifying Group C hosts Nepal with a 3-1 victory over Turkmenistan on Friday.

Mohamed Jasim Marhoon put Bahrain a goal to the good with 12 minutes at the Dashrath Stadium played before the midfielder restored the Gulf kingdom’s advantage one minute into first-half stoppage after Akmammet Metdayev had pulled Turkmenistan level three minutes after the Marhoon’s opener.

Defender Sayed Mohamed Shubbar extended the lead in the 53rd minute with what transpired to be the final goal of the match, with the victory putting Bahrain on three points, one behind joint-leaders Iraq and Nepal who played out a 2-2 draw in the later match at the same venue. Turkmenistan remain without a point having lost both of their matches.
