KUALA LUMPUR – Three AFC referees will officiate in the OFC (Oceania Football Confederation) 2008 Olympic qualifier between Papua New Guinea and New Zealand, the first-leg of which is scheduled to be played on March 8 in Port Moresby.
Australian Tammy Ogston, who officiated the 2007 FIFA Women’s World Cup final, will referee the game and she will be assisted by compatriots Sarah Ho and Airlie Keen.
FIFA referee Sara Hodgson was nominated by the OFC to be the fourth official but as AFC policy dictates that only AFC Elite Women’s referees can assume this role for matches in other confederations the Asian game’s governing body has proposed Malaysia’s Rita Gani instead.
