KUALA LUMPUR: The draw for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2008 Qualifiers was conducted at the AFC House here recently with eight teams divided into two groups.
The teams will play single round robin format for the four slots in the Finals. Group A includes Myanmar, Vietnam, Chinese Taipei and Iran while Thailand, Korea Republic, Philippines and Malaysia complete Group B.
Group A matches will be played at the Thanh Long Sports Complex stadium in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, while the King’s 80th Birthday Anniversary Stadium in Korat, Thailand, will host Group B matches.
Qualifiers will be played from March 24-28, 2008 and the top two teams from each group will join four other seeded teams in the Finals to be held from May 28 – June 8, 2008, in a venue yet to be decided.
The seedings for the qualification and finals format of AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2008 are based on the results from the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2006.
