| Arbil down AFC Cup holders |
 |
| Defending champions Arbil would aim to retain the Iraq League crown. |
AMMAN – Arbil warmed-up for their AFC Champions League debut against Al Gharafa next week with an impressive 3-0 victory over AFC Cup holders Shabab Al Ordun on Friday.
After a goalless first-half Arbil opened the scoring in the 52nd minute through the 2007 Iraq Super League top scorer Ahmad Salah before the 25-year-old, who has spells outside Iraq with Al Shamal in Qatar and in Syria with 2008 ACL qualifiers Al Ittihad, added a second just after the hour-mark.
Midfielder Muslem Mubarak netted Arbil’s third in the 77th minute rounding off a disappointing result for Shabab Al Ordun, who will need to pick themselves up before they begin the defence of their AFC Cup title when they take on Yemen’s Shaab Al Hadramout on Tuesday.
