| Gharafa crowned Qatar champions |
 |

DOHA – AFC Champions League 2008 qualifiers Al Gharafa have won the Qatar league title for the fifth-time after Al Sadd’s 4-0 defeat by Qatar Sports Club gave Marcos Paqueta’s side an unassailable nine-point lead with two rounds left to play.
Al Gharafa, who host Uzbek giants Pakhtakor in the second round of ACL matches on Wednesday, let slip at two-goal lead to go down 5-3 in their round 25 clash with relegation-candidates Al Shamal.
But the defeat, only their fourth of the season, proved facile for Al Gharafa as Al Sadd’s heavy loss ended the defending champions’ hopes of retaining their Qatar Crown.
Al Sadd will be looking to pick themselves up for their next AFC Champions League clash, which is against Al Wahda in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday.
