Sri Lankan champions Ratnam Sports Club went to the top of AFC President's Cup Group C.
COLOMBO – Sri Lankan international K.N. Jayasuriya scored with nine minutes left to play as AFC President’s Cup Group C hosts Ratnam Sports Club came from behind to defeat Kanbawza 3-2 on Friday.
Both teams went into the game at the Sugathadasha Stadium in high spirits after the first round of matches after the Sri Lankan champions hammered Bhutan’s Transport United 7-1 and the men from Myanmar defeated Turkmenistan champions and group favourites Ashgabat 1-0 in their AFC President’s Cup debut.
And while the hosts seized the early initiative thanks to Jayasuriya’s ninth minute opener Kanbawza took control of the match with striker Kyaw Thi Ha equalising seven minutes from the break and then bagging his second five minutes into the second-half.
But Kanbawza’s lead was short-lived with midfielder Mohamed Asmeer drawing level before Jayasuriya netted the late winner to keep Ratnam in control of Group C with six points from two matches.
