| Heartbreak for Kanbawza |

COLOMBO – An 11-0 hammering of Transport United on Sunday and a superior goal difference overall was not enough to see Kanbawza through to the AFC President’s Cup semi-finals.
The men from Myanmar were squeezed out by Ashgabat, with the Turkmenistan champions joining title holders and Group B winners Dordoi Dynamo in the final four on account of their better overall record against Kanbawza and Ratnam, with the matches against Transport United not taken into account.
After an impressive 1-0 win over Ashgabat on their AFC President’s Cup debut and a narrow 3-2 loss to hosts Ratnam, Kanbawza rounded-off their campaign in style, scoring seven times in the first-half and another four after the break to pile on the misery for Transport United, who conceded 25 goals in their three Group C matches.
Striker Tun Min Oo led the way with four goals (15, 23, 31, 71) and his fellow forward Kyaw Thi Ha weighed in with a hat-trick (11, 36, 92).
Midfielder Nay Zaw Htet struck either side of the interval (41, 51) while the other goals came in the 38th minute from Khin Muang Lwin and in the 74th minute from substitute Si Thu Than, who came on for Min Oo three minutes earlier.
Kanbawza must now wait for the outcome of Group A to see if they can qualify to the semi-finals as the best runner-up.
