DHAKA: Former footballer Kazi Salahuddin was elected as the President of the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) on Monday.
The 54-year-old Salahuddin polled 62 votes as against 49 by his rival Major General (retd) Amin Ahmed Chowdhury to get elected for a four-year term.
The Senior Vice-President’s position was won by Abdus Salam Murshedi while the new Vice-Presidents are Manzoor Hossain Malu, Kazi Nabil Ahmed, Md Showkat Ali Khan (Jahangir) and Badal Roy.
Fifteen members were also elected to the BFF Executive Committee.
“I want to serve the BFF in the best way possible,” Salahuddin said after his election. “My first task is to bring football back to the ground.”
AFC Vice-President Manilal Fernando and AFC General Secretary Dato’ Paul Mony Samuel supervised the elections which were held after amendments to the BFF statutes according to directives from FIFA and AFC.
