TOKYO : Asian club champions Urawa Red Diamonds were held to a 1-1 draw by Vissel Kobe Saturday, staying top of the J-League on goal difference.
Urawa took the lead in the 70th minute when Japanese international defender Yuki Abe struck home a spectacular overhead goal.
But Kobe , who hit the woodwork three times, finally found the net just nine minutes later through substitute midfielder Takayuki Yoshida.
Urawa , with six wins, two draws and two defeats, are level with FC Tokyo at the top of the table on 20 points but have a superior goal difference.
Nagoya Grampus are just one point back, with Kashima Antlers on 18 points, Kawasaki Frontale on 17, Yokohama Marinos on 16 and Omiya Ardija and Gamba Osaka on 15 points.
