| Old Boys Club eye crown in Zibo |
 |
| Old Boy's 'Football for Friendship' slogan |
ZIBO: Old Boys Club start as one of the favourites to win the inaugural Zibo City League, beginning on May 10 in the presence of AFC President Mohamed bin Hammam.
The club has strengthened its squad in order to achieve success in the 12-team league and the players are raring to go for a challenging season.
The club's director Wang Bing said that Vision China has given new direction to the development of football in the region.
"The new direction will clear many hurdles which came our way during the past years and by playing on the platform provided by AFC we will work harder to make our game stronger," he told the-afc.com.
Old Boys Club is one of the two clubs playing in the Zibo City League with no governmental support. "Since the club's formation in 1999, our club has gone from strength to strength and I hope this league will bring in new era of development," said the 36-year-old.
"We have established many entities to support the club and also have long-term partnerships with 11 companies."
Old Boys Club won the local title in 2004 and two years later became champions of Zibo Group A League. "We have signed foreign players and I hope we can justify our favourites tag by winning the crown," he added.
