| Eight countries in AFC festival |
 |
| The AFC U-14 Festival of Football for AFC’s South Asian region starts tomorrow. |
TEHRAN: The AFC U-14 Festival of Football for AFC’s South Asian region will begin here on May 10 with the participation of eight countries.
A total of 176 players from Afghanistan, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and hosts Iran are taking part in the festival.
An AFC “C” license coaching course and referees course will begin on May 10 and a workshop for head coaches of all the participating teams is scheduled for May 15.
The arrival of teams starts on May 16 while the matches run through May 18-22.
The aim of these festivals is to primarily provide teenaged players with an opportunity to play, enjoy and gain experience at an international level, besides creating a platform for grassroots coach and referee education.
