MUSCAT: AFC Club side Sur ended their domestic season with a big win after thrashing Muscat 5-2 in the Omani League’s last round on Saturday.
The win was enabled by goals from Jose Estefane Junior (1, 7), Omar Naji (50), Khaled Mubarak (57) and Abdulhafeez Thuwaini (67) and saw Sur finish their campaign in sixth position on 31 points, 14 points behind champions Al Oruba.
Dhofar finished second in the league with 38 points, followed by Khaboora (34). At the lower end of the table, Oman Club and Bahla were relegated to the second division.
Sur take on Dempo SC of India in their final AFC Cup group game on May 14 though they have little chance of making the knockout stage.
