BEIJING: Beijing Guoan, who are locked in an intense struggle with Japanese champions Kashima Antlers for AFC Champions League knock-out stage qualification, defeated Liaoning FC 2-0 on Saturday in the Chinese Super League.
Huang Bowen opened Beijing’s account in the 25th minute and in the 50th minute Brazilian Tiago doubled the AFC Champions League side’s advantage which was maintained by Lee Jang-soo’s team for their third win.
The capital side are now sixth in the 16-team standings on 11 points and three adrift of early leaders Shanxi Baorang who take on defending champions Changchun Yatai, who are also the other AFC Champions League side from China, today.
Beijing play Thai outfit Krung Thai Bank in the AFC Champions League’s final group encounter on May 21.
