| Lebanon champions Al Ahed |
BEIRUT: Al Ahed overcame Tadamon Sour 2-1 to clinch the Lebanon League title in the final round on Thursday.
Going into the 22nd and final round, Al Ahed were placed third in the 12-team standings with 46 points, one less than Al Najma and Al Ansar but a 1-1 draw between the top two teams saw Al Ahed claim the crown for the first time.
Ghassan Shwaekh gave seventh-placed Tadamon a surprise 70th minute lead but Bassem Marmar made it 1-1 nine minutes later. Mohammad Abu Ateiq scored the match-winner for Al Ahed in the last minute.
Mohammed Ghaddar, who topped the goalscorers’ chart with 22 goals, opened the scoring for Al Najma in the 27th minute but Hussain Ameen scored the equaliser for Al Ansar one minute from time.
