BEIRUT: AFC Cup quarter-finalists Safa overcame Racing Beirut 1-0 to set up the Lebanon Cup final with Al Mabarrah who defeated Al Irshad 3-0 in another semi-final on Sunday.
Mohammad Qarhani netted the match-winner for Safa in the 31st minute while Trinidad and Tobago forward Irol Makyarlin scored a hat-trick for Al Mabarrah in the third, 41st and 61st minutes.
Samir Saad's charges will face Malaysia’s Perak in the first leg of their AFC Cup quarter-finals away on September 16.
Earlier in the quarter-finals, defending champions Al Ansar lost to Al Irshad 4-3 on penalties. Both the sides were goalless at the end of regulation time but Ahmed Trad gave Irshad the lead in the 104th minute only to see Edelson score the equaliser in the 116th minute.
In other quarter-finals, Al Mabarrah defeated Al Ahly Saida 1-0, Racing Beirut downed Trables Sports Club 2-1 and Safa beat Shabab Sahel 4-2 on penalties.
The final will be played on Thursday.
