| Away win for Home |
SINGAPORE – AFC Cup quarter-finalists Home United remained on the coat-tails of the 2008 S.League leaders with a 2-1 come-from-behind victory over Geylang United at Bedok Stadium on Tuesday.
The home side took a ninth minute lead through Brazilian striker Rivaldo Costa, who has had spells in Saudi Arabia with Al Ta’awon and in Indonesia with Petrokimia and Arema Malang.
However, Singapore striker Shahril Ishak equalised for Home with eight minutes of the first-half left to play to level the match going in to the interval.
Just three minutes after the restart Ishak’s international team-mate Indra Sahdan Daud gave Home the lead which they held until the final whistle, a task made easier thanks to the 75th minute dismissal of Geylang’s Masrezwan Masturi, who was only just returning to action following a suspension.
The win consolidated the Protectors’ third-place position in the current S.League standings, where they sit three points behind fellow AFC Cup quarter-finalists Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) and six adrift of table-topping Super Reds, who lead the way with 41 points but have played two games more than SAF.
The Koreans regained poll position from the warriors thanks to a last-minute 1-0 win over Gombak United on Tuesday after SAF had temporarily held top spot on goal difference.
