KUALA LUMPUR: Delhi Soccer Association (DSA) President Subhash Chopra has vowed to make Vision India project in Delhi as the most successful in the country.
Speaking during the one-day workshop on Vision India-Project Delhi at the AFC House on Thursday, Chopra said: “This will be our primary project and we will ensure that our achievements surpass all the other projects in the country,”
He said the DSA has formed a committee to review the statutes and bring them in line with the FIFA Standard Statutes.
Delhi Education Minister, Arvind Singh Lovely promised government’s backing to the project saying each zone in the Indian capital will have football ground in the future.
“Under the new sports policy of the Delhi Government, it is mandatory for all schools to have their teams in five disciplines. We feel football will be one of the key sports in the schools,” he said.
AFC General Secretary Dato’ Paul Mony Samuel stressed the importance of government’s support in developing the game saying, “Professionalism and support of the government are the two key areas for development.”
“FIFA and AFC are concentrating heavily to develop the game in India and China. The East Asian country has taken giant strides on the road to development and India need to catch them soon,” he said.
Delhi Transport Minister Haroon Yusuf, DSA General Secretary N K Bhatia and Treasurer Syed Shaheen were also present on the occasion.
