TASHKENT – New Kuruvchi signing Jose Luis Villanueva scored on his debut as the ACL 2008 quarter-finalists drew 1-1 with Pakhtakor in the Uzbekistan league’s top-of-the-table clash on Thursday.
The Chilean striker opened his Kuruvchi account 31 minutes into the round 15 clash to give the league leaders the advantage going into the interval.
The defending champions were given an early opportunity to get back on level terms when they were awarded a 50th minute penalty but Alexander Geynrikh crashed the ball against the bar.
However, the Uzbekistan international redeemed himself seven minutes later when he bagged the goal that kept Paktakhor within two points of Kuruvchi, who top the standings with 41 points.
