LAHORE: The benefits of AFC’s AID-27 programme are being directly felt in Pakistan with the South Asian country hosting the final phase of its first-ever National Women’s Club Championship from July 16 to 20.
Women’s football activities gained momentum in Pakistan following the appointment of Aqueela Rahman under AFC’s AID-27 programme.
Rahman aided in the development of this competition which will see 16 teams divided into four zones – Lahore, Sialkot, Islamabad and Karachi - and playing a preliminary competition from June 20 to 28.
Four teams - Karachi's Diya Women’s FC, Vehari United, Lahore's WP Club and Rawalpindi's Young Rising Star Club - won their respective zones to be part of this five-day event at the Punjab Stadium.
