RIYADH – Saudi Arabia Premier League side Al Nasr have enlisted the services of Nigeria-born Benin international Razak Omotoyossi, who moves to the Riyadh-based outfit from Sweden’s Helsingborgs IF.
The 22-year-old had an impressive spell with Helsingborgs, who he joined from Moldovan powerhouse FC Sheriff, netting 14 goals in 23 matches to finish joint-top scorer in his first season in the Allsvenskan.
Omotoyossi also struck six-times in as many matches to lead the scoring charts after the group stage of the 2007/08 UEFA Cup along with Helsingborgs team-mate Henrik Larsson and Italian international Luca Toni, then of Bayern Munich.
Despite his prolific form, Omotoyossi has something of chequered past and in 2003 he was given a five-year ban by the Nigeria Football Association for assaulting a referee during a match between his then club Sunshine Stars and Enyimba, prompting his move to Benin and subsequent switch in citizenship.
Omotoyossi is Al Nasr second foreign import following the signing of Brazilian defender Éder Gaúcho, while there have also been changes at the management level with former Kuwait coach Rodion Gacanin taking helm of the club for the forthcoming season.
