BAGHDAD: Former AFC Champions League side Al Quwa Al Jawiya coach Hameed Salman has stepped down from his position following a string of poor results in the elite stage of Iraqi League on Wednesday.
Al Quwa Al Jawiya, who finished runners-up in the league last year, are at the bottom of Group A following two losses and a victory with three points, four less than leaders and defending champions Arbil.
Salman guided the team during their unsuccessful AFC Champions League group stage campaign where they finished second in Group B with eight points, four less than leaders Saipa.
The club’s management board has accepted Salman’s resignation but a replacement has not been announced yet as the team take on Kirkuk in their fourth league match on Thursday.
