SEOUL: Korea Republic Olympic team coach Park Sung-hwa on Friday claimed to have finalised the squad which will be in the hunt for a medal at the Beijing Games after their 2-1 win over Guatemala two days ago.
Speaking to the media on the sidelines of a training session at the Paju National Football Centre, Park said he had tied up the loose ends.
“I have made the final decisions already,” said Park under whose reign the team has run up an eight-match unbeaten streak since August 2007. “However, with the possibilities of injuries to players, I will watch the K-League very closely until the weekend.”
Several of the key players trained lightly yesterday to prevent aggravating injuries they are carrying. 2004 AFC Youth Player of the Year Park Chu-young limited his workout due to a groin strain while Choi Cheol-soon sat out the session owing to an injured toe.
Yang Dong-hyeon, who was substituted during the win over Guatemala after injuring himself, is likely to be out of action for at least six months.
