SINGAPORE – AFC Cup 2008 quarter-finalists Home United dropped to third in the current S-League standings after the Super Reds hammered Sengkang Punggol 4-0 on Sunday to reclaim second position.
Choi Dong-soo opened the scoring in the 14th minute and then Park Kang-jin doubled the Korean side’s advantage six minutes from the interval.
The S-League strugglers held out until ten minutes from full-time when Oh Ddog-yi made it three with an 80th minute penalty before Moon Soon-ho compounded Sengkang’s misery with the fourth just a minute later.
The Reds 14th win of the season took their points tally to 44, three above Home United who had held the second-place position for 24 hours following their narrow 1-0 win over the Young Lions a day earlier.
Home’s fellow AFC Cup quarter-finalists Singapore Armed Forces continue to set the pace with the reigning S-League champions sitting three points above the Super Reds.
Both of Singapore’s continental title hopefuls have a game in hand over the Koreans.
