AMMAN: Jordan Football Association (JFA) has decided to re-launch its league on more professional lines this year.
At its executive committee meeting on Monday, the JFA decided to start the league from September 5 and provide a financial support of US$150,000 to all the ten participating clubs.
Jordanian teams dominated the AFC Cup since the last three years with Al Faisaly winning the continental event twice in 2005 and 2006 while Shabab Al Ordun denied them a hat-trick winning the competition last year.
The JFA also nominated league winners Al Wihdat as their sole representative in the new AFC Professional League next year while Jordan Cup champions Al Faisaly will take part in the AFC Cup 2009.
According to the new rules, the clubs will have to sign contracts with all their players before the start of the season which will help them meet the AFC requirements.
