DOHA – AFC Asian Cup 2011 hosts Qatar defeated DPR Korea 2-1 on Sunday as both sides geared up for their respective 2010 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.
Brazil-born midfielder Fábio César continued his impressive form for his adopted country when he opened the scoring in the 24th minute before Al Sadd striker Ali Afif doubled Qatar’s advantage 12 minutes into the second-half.
Ri Kum-chol reduced the deficit with a 69th minute penalty but Qatar held on to record their first ever win over the North Koreans in a FIFA ‘A’ friendly.
