DORTMUND – Korea Republic international Lee Young-pyo has left English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur to join German outfit Borussia Dortmund.
The 31-year-old joins the 1997 UEFA Champions League winners to replace injured left-back Dedê and his move to the Dortmund marks his third spell at a European club following stints at Spurs and in Holland with PSV Eindhoven.
Lee will be looking to clock up a century of international caps during Korea Republic’s 2010 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign, which sees the Taegeuk Warriors taking on Iran, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and neighbours DPR Korea in Group B of the fourth round of Asian qualifiers.
The Koreans kick-off their quest for a seventh successive appearance at the football’s biggest stage on September 10 when they face their North Korean rivals in Shanghai.
